For the first time in my life, I decided to attend a New Years Party. And since "go big or go home" is my accidental motto for life, I went to the biggest party I could find - the Jack Daniels Bash on Broadway in Nashville, TN. The Broadway strip in Nashville is known for its nightlife year-round. Lined with classic honky-tonks, bars, and restaurants, the faithful glow of neon guitars and boots lines the sidewalks, no matter the season. But this is New Year's Eve. Add not one but two stages with fabulous artist lineups situated at opposite ends of 1st and 6th Avenues (it is Music City after all), line the streets with food and alcohol vendors, and put a giant music note on a pole at the front - you've got the makings of a party! Throw in some serious fireworks and oh, say, around 150,000 people from all over and you've got the Bash on Broadway.
My sweet friend Nina came with me to celebrate, and we made a new friend along the way. Though I did have to say goodbye to the idea of personal space for the evening, I could not have asked for a better time. Sometimes it's easy to forget that Nashville is such a huge city, boasts such a diverse group of residents, and attracts even more diverse visitors with its unique culture and music. It felt good to be a part of the culture. This is Nashville. This is home.
