Wine + Best Friend + Best Friend's Birthday = A grand ol' time.
It was Mary's 21st birthday, so we set a time (I reserved my slot in her crazy schedule well in advance), I picked her up, and I took her to Arrington Vineyards. What else?
The vineyard is in beautiful Arrington, TN, and boasts some of the best local wine I know of. They grow their own grapes right here in Middle Tennessee, and their wine list is diverse and delicious.
My personal all-time favorite is there Red Fox Red, which has wonderful notes of wild strawberry and black tea, followed by vanilla and black plum. But they also sport some options more unique to our region, like their Antebellum wine with its touches of molasses, leather, and Tennessee whiskey, or their Honeysuckle wine, with aromas of orange blossom and honey.
So, yeah. It's good wine.
In addition to the vino, Arrington also has live music, often jazz, most weekends, and - best of all - a lovely knoll on which you can lay out a blanket, sip some wine, and enjoy the incredible view across the vineyards and into the rolling hills of Tennessee.
Once the sun began to set, we headed over to Nashville for dinner and candles.
Arrington is a beautiful gem in the heart of Tennessee, and is a popular venue for weddings and events as well as an awesome community gathering place. It's completely free to come and enjoy the stunning scenery, but you won't be able to resist that sweet, sweet wine. A must-visit if you're anywhere near this area, and a must-order if you're not.
Happy birthday, Mary!
